Don’t judge me.
I am hopelessly addicted to bad bad bad reality TV. In college, my old roommate and I would watch Laguna Beach (the first two seasons) and The Hills religiously. We would drop whatever we were doing on whatever night it was on (Mondays?) and yell at the TV together about how stupid Stephen or Spencer or whoever was being that day.
My current love is Vh1’s Rock Of Love (ROL). For one, it’s a dating show – which means people are going to do and say all sorts of embarrassing shit. For two, despite all the dumbassery, there is a genuine element to it – unlike Flavor of Love, these girls are genuinely attracted to Brett and are legitimately passionate about him and being with him. Their emotions are real and so is the crazy – and some of these broads are definitely crazy. For three – I enjoy it because it seems to truly be universally enjoyable. Miss Roommate and myself used to camp out on the couch with blender drinks and fancy home-cooked dinners for the first few episodes and then we got too busy, so that took a back seat. Then I turned The Boy onto this show, and he and I began a trend of watching it together while eating nasty double cheese burgers from the diner – even though this kid is on the other side of the country – we still watch the show together, it’s kind of awesome.
Like any reality show, ROL has its villian – Lacey. And oh, what a crazy bitch she is. If you’ve watched the show at all – you know. And if you’ve flipped past Vh1 at all during the last 2 months, you’ve watched the show. Miss Roommate shot me a link today that showcases Lacey’s brand of “fucking crazy” and how it existed from an early age. I’d be lying if I said that reading this article wasn’t hilarious.
Now. ROL ends forever (until ROL2) on the 30th, and its end will come as kind of a bummer for me in two ways. First, I am scheduled to fucking work at the bar during the finale. LAME! Second, it means the end of the Sunday night tradition with the boy. Also lame, and kinda sad.
However! My longtime reality-TV lover ANTM kicks off tonight, and holy hell I am totally in love with that show. And by “that show – I mostly mean Tyra Banks and her weird dinosaur faces…
Aaaand I just wrote a whole entry about reality tv. I feel kind of dirty.
Tyra Banks is such a raptor. I can’t wait to see how my fantasy draft picks do this week.
i have to say i was sad that Spontaniouse didn’t make the cut. i couldn’t help but snicker every time her name came on the screen.
